using old cmaps that don't come as .cmap files

Post by uma »

Hallo all!

I have old Cmaps that come not as ".cmap" files, but as folder structures.
Is there a way of importing/transforming them?

Folder structure looks like this (root folder is "map-name"):

map-name/resource.idx.old
map-name/resource.idx
map-name/projects.idx.old
map-name/projects.idx
map-name/x-kaos-cmap/project.idx
map-name/x-kaos-cmap/x-text/project.idx
map-name/x-kaos-cmap/x-text/several-files-ending-with.x-text

I looks as if the .x-text files contain the Cmap information. Additional question: What kind of files are .cmaps? Obviously not plain text?! Is there an explanation anywhere what x-kaos-cmap means?

I've been using CmapTools a lot years ago, now I'd like to restart. But, apparently, I forgot how some stuff works... Great tool, BTW!

Thanks & Cheers!

Hi Ulf,

These are v2 Cmaps -- way back from maybe 10 or more years ago? We used to provide a program that converted them to the new format, but that program is also obsolete, and since nobody downloaded it stopped maintaining it.
