Camp Tools close automatically when open at OSX YOSEMITE

Post by gpbreier »

I've upgrade my OS X in my mac to OS X YOSEMITE version 10.10.1 and instal the new version of java 1.8.0_25.

After I've installed a new version of CTOOLs in my mac I can't use this program because it closed when I started the program.

No message show with why it closed.

I saw that the menu Camp tools show on the bar and after it closed.

IF someone knows about the problem please I need use the program.

Thanks'

I too was able to install 6.00 on Yosemite, but then when I tried to launch it I got the same unexpected results: it seemed like it would open CmapTools as the CmapTools menu appeared at the top of the screen, but when it got to the point in the launch sequence where the launching splash-screen was to appear there was a flash as the window opened and immediately closed.

I found this line in console:
Forcing java.vm.version to $(java.version)-zeroG in order to preserve backward compatibility
I then read the recent troubleshooting post (Can't install v6.00 under Mac OSX) and there was the suggestion to try the 6.00 Beta 5 version. I installed it and it and so far is working.

Beautiful Update!!! Thanks for all of the application 'polishings' :-)

You don't need to install Java 1.8, CmapTools installs it for its own use.

Can you please send us a copy of the log file that was generated? This entry tells you where to find it:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=65

Since CmapTools did launch this will help us determine the cause.

Even the earliest log file I have, cmaptools2.log, was created after I was running BETA 5. Below is the start of that log file cmaptools2.log. I'll uninstall/reinstall 6.00 and see what I can get and post the new log files.

I reinstalled CmapTools_v6.00_01-04-15 2.app, launched it and it did the same, showing the menu for a couple of seconds and the flash of a window opening and closing.

I checked the cmaptools log... and there was nothing, it wrote nothing to the log. I did this multiple times, on and off, over at least a half hour, checking the cmaptools logs and also the system logs. Only 1 time was something written to the "all messages" log at the same time I launched cmaptools. Pretty sure it was a coincidence, but it does mention java so I'll attach it anyway. I'm re-installing the BETA since I need to work with CmapTools. Let me know if I can help in another way.

While trying to attach .txt file kept getting reply: "Could not upload attachment to ./attachments/158_91d3295bc4f10ce50e3ec259b9bf7e7e".
So am pasting below:

Thanks... so CmapTools is not launching. We're looking into it. We've seen this behavior on OS X 10.7 but not on Yosemite. Does your user have Administrative permissions?

Yes it does--it's the admin account.
BTW, I just installed CmapTools in my lab at school yesterday (via x2go) on Ubuntu 12.04 and looks like it's working great (and we use FAT clients via LTSP-pnp)!!! Also, updated to the new CmapServer at our district successfully. Thanks so much for this teaching/learning resource.

Thanks David. It seems to be a problem with the Installer program that only causes problems in OS X.

I have to have this program on my Mac for my class and I do not have another way to download onto a different OS. I have the newest version of OS X Yosemite and when I download it it says that there was an error but it acts as if it is nothing. Then when I open it the icon comes up on the dock and there is a box that flashes on the screen for just a split second but it closes out... Please... HELP!!!

Hi @KelsiLeann, Check out my first post on this page above. It mentions another forum post from a few days previous. In the replies to that post there's instructions to download a different version of CmapTools--it has to word BETA5 or something such in the link. That's the version that I've been using since yesterday--a couple hours of work on it already--and it's working fine. Good luck.
