File corruption

Post by celinewalters »

CmapTools 6.01.01
Windows 10
I was working on my assignment in CmapTools when my computer crashed. I had saved frequently up until this point in time.
When I restarted my computer I thought that I would be able to access the last saved part of the assignment, however, the file is there, but appears corrupted and won't open.
Note when opening says:
Error opening resource Motivation
Unable to read source: could not construct an object input stream: invalid stream header: 00000000

Is there anything I can do about this?

It seems like the computer crashed in the middle of saving the Cmap, or for some reason the Cmap was not saved, or there was a problem with the file system -- hard to tell unless we see the log. The file does seem corrupt, and there is no way to recover it. (In the Preferences, there is an option to save the Cmap periodically to avoid this problem). Hope you have a backup of the file.

I had been saving periodically and was surprised that I was unable to go back to one of the previous savings.

Each save overwrites the previous version, unless you do a "Save As ..."
